| MUGELLO: STEEP WEEKEND FOR ALBERTO CERQUI |

10/10/2010 - Alberto Cerqui lived a steep weekend at Mugello in the seventh and penultimate round of the Italian Formula 3 2010 Championship.
The driver for team Ombra Racing, winner last year of the Formula Azzurra title, was slowed down by a problem to the engine and set the twentieth time in qualifying (1'44.691), seventh of the rookies.
In race one, the young driver from Brescia has been author of a good recovery in the first part of the race that allowed him, thanks also to a good race pace, to recover up to the thirteenth position. A problem during lap seven cost him more than ten seconds and this compromised the final outcome of the race, ended in seventeenth position under the chequered flag.
Race two last only eight laps when a technical inconvenience, in evidence since the start, forced Cerqui to an early pit stop.
Alberto Cerqui:
"This has certainly been a troubled weekend but this is also motor-racing. Now we have to focus on finishing the season with a good result in Monza in two weeks time, setting the basis in collective tests this Wednesday: now I am fifth in the rookies classification a position that I intend to defend without stopping to aspire to the third final position". |
