| FURTHER POINTS AND FASTEST LAP OF THE ROOKIES FOR ALBERTO CERQUI AT MUGELLO | |
| 25/07/2010 - Weekend marked with positive traits for Alberto Cerqui at Mugello in the fourth round of the Italian Formula 3 Championship.
The young driver from Brescia set the fourteenth fastest time in qualifying held Saturday morning(1'45.473), which was also worth the third place among rookies. In the afternoon, during race one, the colours bearer for Team Ombra Racing was protagonist of a spectacular lap one that saw him recovering several positions; the race did not live particular twists for him afterwards and ended with Cerqui eleventh, close to the points. Today, during race two, the winner of the 2009 Formula Azzurra title, after losing one position due to a contact with an opponent during lap one, lapped constantly on interesting times and he set the fastest lap of the rookies' race during lap seven (1'48.151). The race ended afterwards with the fifteenth time under the chequered flag. In the rookies classification the young Italian driver is now fifth at 51 points and is well within the fight for the third position. Alberto Cerqui: "My race pace, especially in race two, matched up the level of the first ten drivers but starting from the fourteenth place it was not easy to get close to first class positions. I still have to work to get the best out of new tyres, but the car is competitive and I am sure that satisfactions will not lack in the second part of the season". The Italian Formula 3 Championship will be back on track next 29 August at Varano de' Melegari. | |
