MUGELLO, PREVIEW: ALBERTO CERQUI AIMING TO THE THIRD PLACE OF THE ROOKIES

05/10/2010 - The Italian Formula 3 Championship will be back on track this weekend at Mugello for the seventh and second-last round of the season.

The Italian Series already stopped on the Tuscany track last July, when Alberto Cerqui got on the rookies podium; the young talent from Brescia, winner last year of the Formula Azzurra title, is currently well within the fight for the third final place in the classification reserved to rookies and now he occupies the fifth position with 75 points.

In the collective tests held last week, an engine problem unfortunately conditioned the preparation work scheduled by technicians of Ombra Racing team ahead of this coming weekend. The problem is now solved and it will not influence the performance during races.

Alberto Cerqui:
"The season's finale announces to be red hot, with a lot of drivers that will play for important positions both in the absolute and rookies classification in a two weeks time-span between Mugello and Monza. I will be one of them, I am more determined than ever to obtain that third place of the rookies that would be a good result in my first year in the probably tightest Formula 3 championship in Europe. As usual, qualifying will be crucial even if Mugello offers several spots whereby one can attempt an attack".

The weekend's programme follows (local time):

Friday 08 October
10.10 - 10.40: Free practice 1
13.50 - 14.20: Free practice 2

Saturday 09 October

15.30: Race 1
