IMOLA: FURTHER PROGRESS FOR ALBERTO CERQUI IN THE THIRD ROUND OF THE SEASON

04/07/2010 - The growth of Alberto Cerqui in the Italian Formula 3 Championship continues. The driver from Brescia, winner last year of the Formula Azzurra title, classified twenty-second in qualifying of the season opener at Misano; at Hockenheim, three weeks ago, he set the thirteenth time and last Saturday he obtained a twelfth place of the grid in 1'43.042 at Imola in the third round of the season. These results highlight the progress of the young Italian talent in one of the most competitive series in the world.

On Sunday, race one last only four laps for him, before a technical problem to the braking system forced him to an early retirement.

Good race two instead, which was only spoiled a bit at the start whereby in the bagarre he had to give away some positions to avoid a contact with the rivals. The driver of Ombra Racing lapped several times on times close to those of the best drivers and finished thirteenth under the chequered flag.

Alberto Cerqui:
"The stopwatch says that both in qualifying and in the race we are going in the right direction. It is a shame for race one, but in this moment my priority is getting a competitive level of performance; once this is achieved results will arrive as a consequence".

The Italian Formula 3 championship will be back on track next 25 July at Mugello.
