| ALBERTO CERQUI ON THE PODIUM IN MONZA AFTER A STUNNING COMEBACK | |
| 03.09.2018 - The second place among the rookies and the ninth overall after an amazing comeback are Alberto Cerqui's haul in an exciting weekend at the Autodromo Nazionale of Monza during the penultimate round of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup 2018.
Resolute to display a strong shape on the home turf, the Italian driver kept the promise on the n.12 Porsche 911 GT3 run by team Dinamic Motorsport, shining in a crucial moment of the championship in front of the Italian fans, his supporters and a lot of sponsors pushing him from grandstands. The weekend has been particularly challenging and free practice was run on the wet. Cerqui showed a good feeling with the car since the first session and got ready to push hard in qualifying. A dried track confirmed a tight qualifying battle among the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup drivers also on a fast circuit like Monza. Cerqui put in remarkable sectors that would have allowed him to end higher up the field, but traffic in the crucial moments prevented him to put together his best lap and a 1'50.617s placed him fourteenth on the grid. Started from the seventh row, the Team Dinamic Motorsport driver showed all his driving skills and his desire to get a strong result on the home circuit. Following a wise start to avoid contacts in the scrap at the first and second chicane, Cerqui based his performance on a strong race pace that allowed him to get six places back thanks to some spectacular moves. The Italian driver completed his performance crossing the line in ninth place, that was second of the rookies. Alberto Cerqui: "I am really very happy on this race on the home turf. I had a great feeling with the car, which is exactly what I needed in Monza. The pace has been very good and some great moves in front of the Italian fans gave me very strong emotions. I could have probably got a better result without the traffic in qualifying, but being second among the rookies means I confirm the third place of the classification at 32 points when only two races are left and this is a good premise ahead of Mexico City". Alberto Cerqui will be back on track from October 26th to 28th for the only Intercontinental round of the season in Mexico City (MEX), where the grand finale of Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup will feature two races in the same weekend.
