ALBERTO CERQUI CLOSE TO THE PODIUM IN SILVERSTONE AT PORSCHE MOBIL 1 SUPERCUP 2018 |
|
09.07.2018 - Alberto Cerqui closed the fourth round of Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup 2018, race held in Silverstone (UK) as support event of the British F1 Grand Prix, at the feet of the podium.
The Italian driver reached the British track resolute to confirm the great performance scored at Red Bull Ring, in a championship that has been so far hard-fought and highly spectacular. Cerqui tried to maximize his experience behind the wheel of the n.12 Porsche 911 GT3 run by Dinamic Motorsport since free practice, when he tried to find the best setup, well aware that nothing comes as a gift on the 5.898 meters of Silverstone in the single make reserved to the Porsche 911 GT3, that reached a crucial point of the season.
Qualifying has been quite tight, with 14 drives in just over a second. The Italian driver run the session keeping his focus in front of the big and competent British crowd, jumping over kerbs and looking for the best lines on this tricky circuit. He eventually was thirteenth posting a best lap of 2'04.484s.
Focus and driving precision have been the key for the race. Cerqui got a great getaway from the seventh row of the grid, and his experience allowed him to stay clear of mid-pack contacts in the first few laps. The Italian managed to recover a position and crossed the finish line in twelfth place overall, that was the fourth of the rookies, right at the feet of the podium.
Alberto Cerqui:
"This weekend has been a more complex than expected. I struggled a bit to find the best feeling with the car since free practice, but in qualifying I posted good times nevertheless, and I knew I could get some more places back in the race, trying to get on the rookies' podium. I had some tyres issues since the beginning though, and this made it difficult to push the Porsche 911 GT3 harder. That was a shame as I knew I could aim higher. I will certainly try to bounce back at Hockenheimring".
Alberto Cerqui will be again behind the wheel of the Porsche 911 GT3 run by Dinamic Motorsport next July 20-22 for the fifth round of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup 2018 at Hockenheimring (GER).
