MARRAKECH: ALBERTO CERQUI TO DEBUT ON A STREET CIRCUIT

10/04/2012 - One month after the Monza's season opener, the FIA WTCC is back on track in Marrakech (Morocco) for the third round of a very tight season featuring seven racing weekends in the first three months.

Alberto Cerqui, Italian Superstars reigning Champion and one of the most awaited youngsters, will continue his apprenticeship with the BMW 320TC lined up for him by ROAL Motorsport. The Circuit International Automobile Moulay El Hassan will see the debut on a street circuit of the young driver from Brescia who will have the duty of getting the most out of the thirty minutes long test scheduled for Friday to get used to the 4.540 meters and the 8 corners of the race track.

Alberto Cerqui:
"I have never raced on a street circuit before and I cannot wait to get on track. I studied the layout of the circuit on the simulator and by using the camera car footages shot in the past seasons: the track is fairly narrow with very few places where one can make an overtaking attempt. In this occasion it will therefore be crucial to try and get into Q2; the fight in the Yokohama Trophy is very tight and the battle is open for the victory".
