IMPORTANT CHANCE IN PORTIMAO |
|
29/05/2012 - The FIA WTCC is about to stop in Portimao (P) for the seventh round of 2012, the last in Europe ahead of the exit that will take the world touring cars championship to America first and then to Asia.
The Portuguese circuit already highlighted Alberto Cerqui's driving skills last year awarding him with the first pole position and the first podium in the Superstars Series during a season that saw him taking the title of Italian Champion.
In this occasion the young driver from Brescia, at his first year in the most important touring cars championship, will aim to a double placing into points keeping an eye to the Yokohama Drivers' Trophy, where he is constantly among protagonists.
Alberto Cerqui:
"I run for the first time in Portimao last year, a track that I liked a lot since the beginning and that marked a twist in my season. Finally WTCC reached a circuit that I already know and therefore my objectives are a little bit more ambitious that usual: overtaking points do not miss therefore qualifying might be less important than in other rounds, but getting into Q2 gives the chance to start race two from the pole position that is still one of the targets to aim to. In the Yokohama Drivers' Trophy I am currently seventh and I believe I can get into the final top five: Portimao is an important occasion for me to score points and I hope I can make the most of it".
