A NEW CIRCUIT TO DISCOVER IN SALZBURG

17/05/2012 - The touring cars world championship reserved another new circuit to be discovered by Alberto Cerqui this coming weekend. In fact, FIA WTCC is about to go to Salzburg (A) for the sixth round of a season that already reached its mid part.

The young driver from Brescia is considered as one of the major promising drivers of the series where he is progressively growing after winning the Italian Superstars title last year. As expected, the season is turning out to be quite tough for Cerqui due to several new race tracks, an extremely technical car to be driven and the challenge against the most titled drivers of the category on the International scene.

Alberto Cerqui:
"As in Marrakech, Bratislava and Budapest, in Salzburg I will have first to learn the circuit. The simulator is a good help but reality is still quite different and I will have to use in the best possible way free practice. We are now in the mid part of the season and I can call myself overall satisfied on how things are going: the first year in a world championship is tough for everyone and I am not the exception. We have positive signals anyway and thanks to the support of the whole team I am getting a bit of that experience that often makes the difference in this kind of races".

The weekend's programme follows (GMT+2):

Saturday 19 May 2012
09.00 - 09.30: Free practice 1
11.45 - 12.15: Free practice 2
15.45 - 16.20: Qualifying

Sunday 20 May 2012
08.45 - 09.00: Warm up
13.20: Race 1
14.35: Race 2

Qualifying and the two races will be live on TV on Eurosport and on the live streaming website www.eurosportplayer.com.
