ALBERTO CERQUI ON THE PODIUM ALSO IN SPA |
|
27/07/2015 - The round of Spa awarded Alberto Cerqui, who has been on duty at the wheel of the number 6 Lamborghini Huracan run by team Imperiale Racing, with the second podium of a growing season.
Following a good fourth place in qualifying, that was converted into the sixth place of the grid due to a penalty, Cerqui put in a phenomenal start in race one which allowed him to take three rivals at turn one and to get the third place. During the whole first stint the driver from Brescia kept the pace of the front runners before giving the wheel to his co-equiper Giacomo Barri with a good margin to their followers. Barri managed the advantage on Shinya Michimi during the second stint, but the latter slowly got closer and the Japanese managed to overtake him at the last corner. The penalty handed to Patrick Kujala for overtaking under the safety car regime, gave back the third place to Cerqui and Barri, as the pairing secured the second podium of the season after the one obtained a month ago at Paul Ricard.
Rain has been protagonist of race two instead. Under a real deluge, Barri drove most of the first stint behind the safety car, while Cerqui tried to do his best to close in on the front runners in the second stint ending sixth.
Alberto Cerqui:
"This has been a positive weekend, both regarding points and our Lamborghini Huracan, that is getting more and more competitive race after race. We needed another podium to build our confidence before the summer break. We have all in place to run the second half of the season as protagonists".
The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo will resume next 20 September atNurburgring. |
