| 02.07.2018 - A very exciting race has ended Alberto Cerqui's the weekend at Red Bull Ring (A) during the third round of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup 2018. The Italian driver secured the second podium of the season among the rookies and the tenth overall place.
The driver from Brescia reached the Austrian circuit to play the role of the protagonist on the n. 12 Porsche 911 GT3 run by Dinamic Motorsport. Following all the mileage clocked in testing over the past months, he was resolute to leave his mark in the first complete season on this single make series. Cerqui worked to adapt his driving style to the technical and driven circuit of the Spielberg since free practice, working also on the setup to be as competitive as possible. The tight qualifying session saw 19 cars within one second only and the Dinamic Motorsport driver posted his personal best of 1'31.368s, that was worth the seventh row and the thirteenth place on the grid. The race has been quite exciting. Cerqui had a great start and managed to set a remarkable race pace, and completed some spectacular overtaking moves that inflamed the supporters on the grandstands. An effective driving allowed the Italian to climb up to P8. A contact with teammate Drudi shuffled the cards a bit and Cerqui had to concede two places towards the end and he eventually crossed the line in 10th place, which earned him his second rookies P3 of the season Alberto Cerqui: "I am really happy for my race pace. When the track was clear I was running at the same pace as the top five and the car gave me a great feedback on such a difficult track. The race has been very hard-fought, sixteen laps flat out in which I did not have any time to hold back and breath, and this has been quite motivating. We are building the feeling, I still have to work a bit on the qualifying setup to find a good balance to allow tyres to work better, but things improved during this weekend, which is positive for Silverstone". Alberto Cerqui will get back on track from July 6th to 8th at the British circuit of Silverstone for the fourth round of the season.
