RESULTS NOT MATCHING UP ALBERTO CERQUI'S POTENTIAL IN SILVERSTONE

25/05/2015 - The weekend of Silverstone, second round of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe 2015, yielded Alberto Cerqui results below the potential shown on track, which would have allowed him to easily get a podium finish.

The driver from Brescia put in a great comeback in the second stint which made him close his effort in P6 of category PRO after a contact early on that saw Barri slipping down to the sixteenth place.
Cerqui started race two from the ninth place but managed to get a lot of positions back installing himself in P3. When the first rain drops started falling on the circuit Team Imperiale's men decide to gamble on the victory and to put rain tires on. Rain unfortunately did not increase its intensity and Barri did not have any other chance that staying on track in the second stint. In the final stages, with tarmac virtually dry, tires degradation made the lineup retire.

Alberto Cerqui:
"Good luck was not at our side. We gambled to take the win but we ended up losing a podium that was virtually established. All in all, I am quite happy with the car that was a lot more competitive here than in Monza, even if not just quite enough to fight for the win. The test we will run shortly will certainly help us closing the gap to the top. After wasting two podiums to try and win, I think we are gonna change our strategy for the coming races being more conservative and concrete".

The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo will resume from Paul Ricard next 20 June.
