ALBERTO CERQUI INTO THE POINTS ALSO AT NÜRBURGRING'S FINAL EUROPEAN ROUND OF THE LAMBORGHINI BLANCPAIN SUPER TROFEO |

21/09/2015 - The round of Nürburgring, penultimate racing weekend of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo 2015, brought some further points to Alberto Cerqui, who has been very good in getting the result in a weekend that has been less favourable to him than the previous ones.
The driver from Brescia started the weekend with very positive times in free practice at the wheel of the number 6 Lamborghini Huracàn lined up by Imperiale Racing, which confirmed his potential to aim at top positions. In qualifying, traffic hit by both Cerqui and his co-equiper Giacomo Barri, prevented them from reaching the target of securing a front row start, despite the competitiveness shown by the car on the single lap. Barri ended the first session in P3, while Cerqui the second in P4.
During the race, the melee of the initial laps did not favour Barri much, as he had to concede several positions early on. Cerqui put in all his fighting skills in his stint and completed a good comeback started from P18 and ended in the final top-ten in P9.
Cerqui had a great getaway in race two, but a contact between two cars at turn one forced him to go wide and to lose three positions in this way. The driver from Brescia managed then to get one back despite the balance of the car that was not perfect, and then gave the wheel to Barri in P6. The chequered flag at the end of the second stint awarded the lineup with the fifth absolute place.
Alberto Cerqui:
"We capitalized as much as possible this weekend that has been affected by several unfavourable episodes. The speed of our Huracàn was there since free practice and we could have aimed higher. Some racing contacts did not help us though, but we closed both races into the points therefore we can call ourselves fairly satisfied despite some regrets".
The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe will now head to the United States where the final round of the season will take place in Sebring next 19-20 November, ahead of the world finals scheduled for 21 and 22. |
