UNLUCKY EXIT TO UNITED STATES

25/09/2012 - Alberto Cerqui did not have much luck in Sonoma (USA) during the ninth round of the FIA WTCC 2012.

The young driver from Brescia got into Q2 on Saturday in qualifying where he set the eleventh time, but in race one Cerqui has been involved in an incident that forced him to an early retirement. The damage on to his BMW 320TC forced him later on to run the second race with a technical problem, nevertheless Cerqui defended well himself and ended in thirteenth place.

Alberto Cerqui:
"After qualifying I was quite happy as getting into Q2 was one of the main targets for a rookie like me. In race one at turn one I could not avoid being involved in the heat of the start. With the little time available the team's technicians fixed what was possible to fix on my car but it was not at its hundred percent and it was not possible to push any further".

In the Yokohama Drivers' Trophy Cerqui is currently seventh with 51 points, just one short of the sixth place. The FIA WTCC will be back on track next 21 October in Suzuka, Japan.
