CERQUI QUICK BUT UNLUCKY IN JAPAN

21/10/2012 - Not much of luck for Alberto Cerqui in the Japanese round of the FIA WTCC as the Italian was racing for the first time at Suzuka's circuit.
On Saturday the young driver from Brescia did not manage to show his full potential due to a spin that prevented him from using the final and decisive minutes of Q1. Started in tenth row, Cerqui recovered some positions in race one setting fast laptimes but an excursion during an overtaking attempt forced him to an early retirement during lap fifteen.

In race two Alberto produced a stunning start that made him gain seven positions; the race did not offer particular twists afterwards and ended with his fourteenth place, ahead of his team mate Tom Coronel.

Alberto Cerqui:
"This has not be a particularly lucky weekend for me. This is a pity as we were very competitive on the race pace and we had the chance to get a good result. In the first race I tried to make a move on the outside but I found more dirt that I expected; the start of race two has been perfect but the positions froze afterwards without real chances to make an overtaking".

FIA WTCC will be back on track next 4 November in Shanghai, China.
