ALBERTO CERQUI AIMING TO THE PODIUM OF THE FIA WTCC 2012 SEASON OPENER
 
05/03/2012 - The await ended: Alberto Cerqui will make his debut in the FIA WTCC 2012 this Thursday becoming the youngest Italian driver to race in a FIA World Championship in 2012.

The talent from Brescia, 19 years of age, will race behind the wheel of a BMW 320TC lined up by ROAL Motorsport, following the footsteps of big names like Fabrizio Giovanardi and Alex Zanardi in the BMW reference team of the championship.

The arrival of Cerqui, reigning champion of the Italian Superstars Series and one of the most promising drivers on the International panorama regarding GT races, is awaited by the whole paddock that is ready to witness the challenge moved by the new talents to the big cheeses of the category like Yvan Muller, Robert Huff, Alain Menu and Gabriele Tarquini.

In pre-season testing Cerqui showed a huge potential tuning quickly with the BMW 320TC. The times set so far make foresee that Alberto took this challenge seriously and will be well determined to be among the protagonists since the beginning.


Alberto Cerqui:
"Starting the adventure in the touring world championship in Monza, my home circuit, is something special. This will give me a double advantage: I already know the circuit and I will have the support of thousands of fans on my side. The team did an excellent preparation work therefore we have all what it takes to start the season on the right foot. Should everything fall in place, we could be realistically aim to the podium but I do not want to hide victory as my ambition. This would be a memorable way to debut".
