UNLUCKY WEEKEND IN SPA

07/08/2011 - The seventh round of the Superstars Series, scheduled on the demanding circuit of Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium), confirmed the fears on the eve of Alberto Cerqui at the debut on the difficult circuit of the Ardennes, unfavorable on paper to the features of his BMW M3.

Apart from the technical aspects, the young driver from Brescia experienced ill-fated weekend since qualifying held in wet conditions, where due to the red flags he could not make the most of the second set of new tyres finishing only in twelfth (2 '56 .836).

In race one, on a dry track, Cerqui was protagonist of a good comeback that brought him to seventh final place. Race two last only the space of a few meters for the BMW Team Italy driver, that could not do anything to avoid the contact with a few cars ahead of him that collided in turn at the ascent of Radillon during the lap one.

In the International Series Cerqui is now fourth with 103 points, 43 lengths behind the leader, he has the same position in the Italian Championship, where stands at 66 with a gap to the lead of 26 points.

Alberto Cerqui:
"Generally I do not like to talk about bad luck, but good luck Spa weekend was definitely not on my side. Performance-wise the balance of performance has, however, granted a clear advantage to the cars equipped with engine units with capacity higher than our own: I therefore hope that an intervention of the technical bureau will allow us to play sportively our cards in the final two rounds, which will be played on two fast tracks as Mugello and Vallelunga. "

The Superstars Series will be back on track on next 25 September at Mugello.
