THE CLASSIFICATION LEADER ALBERTO CERQUI READY FOR THE FINAL CHALLENGE OF VALLELUNGA |
|
04/10/2011 - The thrilling debut season of Alberto Cerqui in the Superstars Series is about to live the most intense moment in Vallelunga, housing this coming weekend the final round of the Italian Championship and International Series.
With four pole positions in eight qualifying, three victories and the early win of the rookies title, the nineteen years old driving for BMW Team Italy has been the revelation of the season and paid off the trust placed on him at the beginning of the season by the team's vertex.
With 43 points still to be awarded, Cerqui reaches the decisive round as leader of the Italian Championship with 108 points, 6 clear of Luigi Ferrara (Mercedes). As stated in the sportive regulations though, his M3 BMW will be penalyzed by the maximum possible amount of sportive ballast, 60kg, that could be the most difficult rival to beat. In the International Series the young driver from Brescia is second with a gap of 11 points to Ferrara.
Alberto Cerqui:
"Reaching the final round of Vallelunga as classification leader in my debut year in Superstars Series is certainly a huge satisfaction. I do not think I will feel a particular pressure throughout the weekend: 2011 has been a great season for me no matter how it will end and the balance of the season will be very positive anyway. I obviously aim to get both titles but having the maximum amount of ballast on board will not make things any easier but as always I will count on a team where nothing will be left to chance ".
