CRUCIAL WEEKEND FOR THE CLASSIFICATION IN SPA

03/08/2011 - The weekend of Spa-Francorchamps, seventh round of the Superstars Series, is going to be crucial for Alberto Cerqui, who is fighting both for the Italian title and for the International one.

The young driver of BMW Team Italy, absolute revelation of the season, has never raced before on the difficult Ardenne's circuit and the 40kg sportive ballast he will have on board in qualifying and in race one will make his life even more difficult.

With three double rounds still to be run (Spa, Mugello and Vallelunga) and 129 points still to be awarded, Cerqui is currently second in the Italian Championship's standings at 62 points, first of the BMW drivers and just two points short the leader Luigi Ferrara (Mercedes). Similar position in the International Series too, where despite the 99 points his gap to Ferrara is of 19 points.

Alberto Cerqui:
"On paper Spa does not suit best our BMW M3 due to its long fast sectors and the 40kg additional weight will not help either. Harvesting important points for the classification is our main target, later on we will play all our cards in the final two rounds; the probable rain is a further unknown but it does not scare me as in fact it could play to our favour".

The weekend's programme follows (GMT+2):

17.20 - 18.00: Test
